Matt Blackband, Owner

Matt Blackband is an accredited cyber response consultant, with experience of law enforcement, military, and corporate environments. His 30 year investigatory background is one of a former New Scotland Yard detective, performing a dedicated and specialist role in cybercrime investigations from 2001. He has appeared in many high-profile criminal and civil cases, and been afforded expert witness status at the Central Criminal Court, and Royal Courts of Justice.

He was one of the founder members of the multi-agency National Hi-Tech Crime Unit, and was actively engaged in the development and growth of two of the Metropolitan Police’s specialist units Hi-Tech Units. In recent years, he has been involved in the design, implementation and security of complicated digital forensic software projects, for law enforcement, military and corporate clients, both domestically and internationally. Matt provides digital forensic and Information Security services to the MOD Service Police, a key component of which was providing digital forensic services to the Al Sweady Public Inquiry between 2012 and 2015. 

With his law enforcement background, Matt is no stranger to rapid response and deployment, and continues to travel globally, either singularly or as team lead investigator, and has recently performed incident response and cyber investigations in Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East and Far East. Additionally, he has developed and delivered digital forensics training programmes globally.

Matt is a keen Information Security practitioner, and maintains up to date knowledge in this discipline for his role as a Digital Forensics Manager and Information Security consultant to a high-profile MOD project. He offers Forensic Readiness consultancy as part of ISO accreditation, and provides input, from an IT perspective, for Business Continuity Planning.
